***safety alert from ama--lithium battery handling***
The AMA has issued a safety alert in the general handling of Lithium Polymer (Li-Poly) batteries. These batteries, if not handled properly, can cause serious injury and/or fire. The user must follow the proper charge/discharge cycling as exactly as stated from the manufacturer. For more information please click here.
As an extra precaution, I would
recommend a fire extinguisher that is compatible with chemical fires such as with Lithium. Also, the use of a metal container (with lid) would contain any potential fires should a Li-Poly battery be compromised in any way such as in a crash or inadvertent overcharging where the battery is swelling.
