41 viewsJanuary 10, 1964 pilot Chuck Fischer, flying a B-52H out of Boeing's Wichita plant, climbed to 14,300 feet for smoother air over Colorado. At this point the bomber flew into clear-air turbulence shoving it up and down as if placed in a giant high-speed elevator and then hit by a heavy blow on its side. Photo is from an F-100 fighter. The pilot landed the bomber safely.
